Eagle Scout Rank

Only 4% of all Boy Scouts ever achieve the Eagle Scout Rank. After achieving the rank of Life Scout, a scout has one more mountain to climb: that is the summit of Eagle Scout Rank. They must complete at least 21 different merit badges with at least 13 of them being specialized Eagle required badges. The scout must demonstrate their ability to lead through planning and carrying out a charitable project to a cause of their choice. Finally the scout must prove he is worthy of being an Eagle scout through a panel interview including advisers, and personal friends.

I achieved my Eagle Scout rank on May 3rd, 2012. My project consisted of organizing, fund-raising, and leading a group of volunteers in the constructions and installation of six benches at Lampson Elementary School in Garden Grove, CA.  The whole process took 6 months of planning, including approval from my Eagle Scout adviser, my Troop's board, and Orange Unified School District's school board. The construction and installation of the benches was carried out in 2 weekends, and the benches are still there to this day. However, with this one accomplishment finished, I still had to go through a board of review process which included a panel interview consisting of both friends and Scout leaders. It still astonishes me that a young 18 year old Zac achieved this esteemed rank.

Below is the original presentation I gave for approval as well as photos capturing my Eagle Scout Project and subsequent board of review result.

Court of Honor

The Eagle Scout is celebrated in their Court of Honor that includes many different ceremonies showing the dedication the scout has shown to the Boy Scout organization. Shown below is the Court of Honor video showing my M & M's (Moments & Memories) throughout my 13 years of scouting.
