Zesty Bomb
At Drexel University, every game designer takes a class called Game Workshop I & II. The classes are designed to emulate a real game studio environment. The first sequence of the course has four different groups of nearly 10 people who make a game in 10 weeks. The top two advance to be developed further into the second sequence of these classes. Our game "Falling with Style" advanced, and so our team grew to 18 members. After 2 crazy terms and 20 weeks, Zesty Bomb presents Falling with Style!
As a member of Zesty Bomb I was a programmer, and worked heavily on documentation during the first term. During this term I programmed multiple scripts from UI elements to physics based hazards that remained prevalent in the game going forward. I also worked with the Technical Lead to make sure the game was in a playable state every week (which consisted of lots of caffeine and multiple all-nighters). During the second term, programmers took more of a secondary role focusing on less scripting and more bug fixing. However, I also implemented tools for artists to use while level designing including texture scaling, and object duplication. Finally, I was given the imperative role of managing version control. I taught members how to use GitHub as well as maintained the repository so that the game was accessible and editable by all members.
